Dr. V. Mohan’s book, ‘Sathya Sai Baba lives on,’ published by Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust, Prashanthi Nilayam, is a moving record of his personal journey in faith. It is now one of the most widely read books on Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Dr. Mohan is an internationally acclaimed diabetologist and the Chairman and Chief Diabetologist of Dr. Mohan’s Specialties Centre. He has written over 1250 research papers and was presented the Padmashree in 2012 for his dedicated work in the cause of diabetes research and patient care. He is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Prasanthi Nilayam and the former Convenor of the Sri Sathya Sai Trust, Tamilnadu.
In his long years in the medical profession Dr. Mohan finds that while doctors treat, God cures. People often ask Dr. Mohan if it is rational to accept miracles. His response is that no amount of talking or reading about it will have the same effect as personally witnessing a miracle. Dr. Mohan combines spirituality with his medical practice and does not consider the two competing with each other. He said, “In many situations we can use our knowledge, skill or mental prowess to handle situations effectively. However, there are many instances where I have no hesitation to seek a helping hand from God especially when it involves the life of another human being.”
I enjoyed reading Dr. Mohan’s book, ‘Sathya Sai Baba lives on,’ for the humility and simplicity with which he writes about his deep devotion to the faith of his choice. He was not born into a family of Sai devotees but made a deliberate choice to adopt it. The depth of his faith comes through when he says that he is conscious of the divine presence supporting and guiding him at all times.
